What You Need To Know
- RU plays the fifth in a six-game road trip Tuesday, when it travels to Maryland.
- After opening the year with a 113-67 win over Immaculata on Nov. 6, the Broncs have fallen at No. 5 Marquette, Nebraska, Duquesne and Stony Brook.
- Mervin James had a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds at Duquesne and followed up the effort with 19 points and nine rebounds at Stony Brook.
- Corey McKeithan scored a career-high 18 points in the setback at Nebraska.
- Mervin James had a team-high 15 points, while T.J. Weeks Jr. posted a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds at Marquette.
- The Broncs were picked as the MAAC Preseason Favorite by the league's coaches. Mervin James was also named MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, while Allen Powell joined James on the Preseason All-MAAC First Team.
- James averaged 12.9 points and 6.8 rebounds last season, shooting 48.2 percent from the floor and 82.5 percent from the free-throw line. He posted a team-high five double-doubles, while scoring in double figures a team-high 24 times in starting all 30 games.
- Powell averaged 10.4 points, 2.1 assists, 1.5 three-point field goals made and 0.9 steals in 33.7 minutes per game last year. He scored in double figures 16 times and sits 35 points away from becoming Rider's 42nd 1,000-point scorer.
- Rider returned a third starter in Tariq Ingraham, who averaged 6.4 points and 3.5 rebounds in 30 games played last season.
- Rider brought in an eight-member recruiting class, including graduate transfer T.J. Weeks Jr. (UMass), junior college transfers Tyriek Weeks (Miami Dade) and JT Langston, Jr. (East Los Angeles College) and freshmen Nic Anthony, D.J. Dudley, Ruben Rodriguez, Moustapha Sanoh and Ife West-Ingram.
- 12th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 178-170 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider.
