RIVERDALE, NY – Manhattan scored two late goals to snap the Rider University men's soccer team's eight-game unbeaten streak, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Gaelic Park. With the loss, the Broncs' first since opening night on Aug. 24, Rider falls to 5-2-3, 2-1-1 MAAC). The Jaspers (4-4-2) remain unblemished in league play at 4-0-0.
Following a scoreless first half, the Jaspers broke the deadlock in the 78
th minute, when Broncs goalkeeper
Adam Salama (Ramle, Israel/Orthodox [Ottawa Univ.]) was whistled for a foul inside the 18-yard box. The Jaspers' Henry Hamilton converted the PK to put Manhattan on top, 1-0, at 77:06. Just over four minutes later, Hamilton nearly whiffed on a shot from the top of the 18-yard box, but the ball spun slightly off his foot to find Gunnar Studenhofft on the left side of the box. Studenhofft shot low across the mouth of goal inside the right post for the 2-0 lead.
