Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Settles For 2-2 Draw at Canisius

Al Masude, Kirilenko score goals

BUFFALO, NYAdel Al Masude (Brussels, Belgium/GO Lyceum Gent) and Luke Kirilenko (McKinney, TX/Impington International College [Virginia]) scored first-half goals, but the Rider University men's soccer team settled for a 2-2 tie Wednesday afternoon at Canisius. With the tie, the Broncs move to 5-3-4 (2-2-2 MAAC), while the Griffs are now 1-9-5 (0-4-3 MAAC).

Rider goalkeeper Adam Salama (Ramle, Israel/Orthodox [Ottawa Univ.]) kept the game scoreless in the fifth minute, stopping a Canisius shot from point-blank range inside the box, 1-v-1 with Canisius striker Mason Petrucci. The Broncs then struck first in the 11th minute, as Saad Chaouki (Montreal, Quebec/Antoine de Saint Exupery) played the ball wide to David Ogbonna (Silver Spring, MD/Blake [Villanova]), who crossed in front to Al Masude. The senior played it on off the left post and into the net for the 1-0 lead. In the 45th minute, Kevin Peprah (Boyds, MD/Northwest) shot low from the top, left corner of the 18-yard box and Kirilenko streaked in to knock in the rebound for a 2-0 Rider lead at the half.

Canisius would cut the Broncs' lead in half on a Glodie Mata goal in the 68th minute. Petrucci's cross found Mata wide of the left post and Mata finished high from a tough angle at close range. With just over 10 minutes to go in the second half, Ely Sidibe collected a loose ball near the top of the 18-yard box and shot through traffic for the equalizer.
