LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team showed why they were picked as the MAAC Preseason favorites Saturday afternoon, topping Fairfield, 172-128. The Broncs even their record at 1-1, while the Stags fall to an equal 1-1.
The Bronc men won 10 events in the meet.
Rider started fast, with the Broncs opening the day with a win in the 200-medley relay by the team of
Christian Overton,
Billy Ruddy (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional),
Nicholas Lane (Hackettstown, NJ/Lane Academy), and
Bobby Irwin (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East). The group touched the wall at 1:32.09.
Overton then swam one-two with Lane in the 100-back. The duo stopped the clock at 50.71 and 51.46. Overton later led a sweep of the 200-back, touching the wall at 1:52.14, ahead of
Derek Fantano's (Morris, CT/Holy Cross) 1:54.86, and
David Rucci's (Sewell, NJ/Gateway Regional) 1:56.49.
Ruddy claimed victory in the 100-breast, swimming 58.35.
Irwin claimed victory in the 200-fly, touching the wall at 1:54.90. In the 100-fly, Irwin swam one-two with lane. The duo recorded times of 51.60 and 51.94.
In the 50-free,
Lucas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) claimed the win, swimming 20.98. He then went on to win the 100-free in 46.78.
Reigning MAAC Diver of the Week,
Marcas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) swept the diving events, scoring 240.68 on the 1-meter as part of a one-two finish with
Stavros Xantheas, who scored 232.73. Racevicius later won the 3-meter with a score of 259.65.

Ethan Rogowski (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa) took second in the 1,000-free and 500-free.

Lucas Racevicius and
Matt Lequang (Plainsboro, NJ/Notre Dame) finished two-three in the 200-free. Lequang was also third in the 500-free.
- Max Connelly claimed third in the 100-breast. Ruddy and Connelly later swam two-three in the 200-breast.
- Rucci was third in the 200-fly and 200-IM.
