What You Need To Know
- Rider travels to Albany to take on Siena Sunday afternoon on ESPN+.
- Playing without Preseason All-MAAC First Teamer
Dwight Murray, Jr., due to injury, the Broncs fell to Quinnipiac at home Friday.
Allen Powell had a season-high 19 points, while
Mervin James contributed 16 points.
-
Adetokunbo Bakare contributed 9 points off the bench vs. Quinnipiac on 3-for-3 shooting from long range.
- Murray had scored at least 17 points in each of the first 10 games prior to three-straight off games of eight points or fewer. For the year, he's averaging 16.4 ppg., shooting 38.3 percent from deep. Murray's 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game are best on the team and his 4.8 rebounds are second.
- Already a 1,000-point scorer for his collegiate career, spanning two years at Incarnate Word and the last three at Rider, Murray stands five shy of 1,000 at RU.
- Siena leads the all-time series with the Broncs, 37-19. The two teams split a home-and-home series last season, with the road team winning each game. The win was the Broncs' first in Albany over Siena since Dec. 7, 2012. Rider had lost the prior six meetings at MVP Arena, while the two teams didn't meet in Albany in 2017-18 and 2020-21.
- Siena is led by Javian McCollum at 16.0 points and 3.8 assists per game. McCollum left Friday's game vs. Saint Peter's after 14 minutes, reportedly due to back issues. Michael Eley (8.6 ppg.), Jared Billups (7.8 ppg., 6.3 rpg.) and Jayce Johnson (7.8 ppg.) have also contributed solidly.
- The Broncs were picked third in the MAAC Preseason Poll.
- 11th-year Head Coach
Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 167-160 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider.
