What You Need To Know
- Rider returns home to face Quinnipiac Friday night at Alumni Gym.
- January is Youth Month at Alumni Gym. Fans 12 and Under can purchase $5 general admission tickets in person at the Ticket Office on game days throughout the month (Rider Wrestling vs. Rutgers not included).
- The Broncs split a pair of games on the MAAC's Western New York road trip, defeating Canisius Saturday, before falling to Niagara on Monday. Both games were decided by two points.
-
Dwight Murray, Jr. had scored at least 17 points in each of the first 10 games prior to three-straight off games of eight points or fewer. For the year, he's averaging 16.4 ppg., shooting 38.3 percent from deep. Murray's 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game are best on the team and his 4.8 rebounds are second.
- Already a 1,000-point scorer for his collegiate career, spanning two years at Incarnate Word and the last three at Rider, Murray stands five shy of 1,000 at RU.
-
Mervin James has contributed a pair of double-doubles in his last six games. He went for 23 points and 13 rebounds in a Dec. 7 win at Stonehill, before chipping in with 13 points and 11 rebounds in a Dec. 22 win over Marist.
- Rider leads the all-time series with Quinnipiac, 13-8. However, after dominating the series' 14 games, 12-2, the Bobcats have won six of the last seven, including the last four. Just one of those games came in Lawrenceville, a gutting 77-70 overtime setback last Jan. 14.
- Quinnipiac features a well-balanced attack, with Columbia grad transfer Ike Nweke leading the way at 11.3 points to go along with 6.6 rebounds per game. Matt Balanc has added 11.1 ppg., while Dezi Jones has added 10.9 ppg., including a team-best 14.5 ppg. in league play. Louis Kortright (9.9 ppg.), Tyrese Williams (8.0 ppg.), Paul Otieno (7.1 ppg., team-high 6.9 rpg.) and Tymu Chenery (6.4 ppg.) give the Bobcats depth.
- The Broncs were picked third in the MAAC Preseason Poll.
- 11th-year Head Coach
Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 167-159 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider.
