LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team defeated NJIT 188-103 Saturday afternoon. The Broncs improved to 4-3 on the season, while the Highlanders fall to 2-6.
The Bronc men won 12 events in the meet.
Rider's first win of the day came with a one-two finish in the 1,000-free by
Ethan Rogowski (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa) and
Kyle Iorizzo (Norwood, NJ/Old Tappan Regional). The pair stopped the clock at 9:39.00 and 9:43.92.
Lucas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) then led a Rider sweep in the 200-free. He touched the wall at 1:41.46 ahead of
David McSorley's () 1:42.87 and
Christian Overton's 1:43.04. Racevicius also won the 100-free with a time of 46.11.
Nicholas Lane (Hackettstown, NJ/Lane Academy) and
David Rucci (Sewell, NJ/Gateway Regional) swam one-two in the 100-back, touching the wall at 50.40 and 50.56. Overton and Lane swam one-two in the 200-back with times of 1:50.70 and 1:50.84, respectively.
David Cooper (Spring, TX/Klein Oak) and
Alex Boeckx (Folsom, PA/Ridley) posted times of 56.68 and 56.79 for a one-two finish in the 100-breast. Cooper also won the 200-breast with a winning time of 2:06.08.
Bobby Irwin (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) won the 200-fly in 1:50.78. Lane,
Jack Ruggieri (Bellmawr, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), and Irwin swam 49.88, 50.49, and 50.55 to sweep the 100-fly.
Boeckx, Racevicius,
Cesar Alvarez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/The Ashton School), and Irwin closed out the day with a swim of 1:24.11 to win the 200-free relay.
In the diving well,
Sean Binning (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) swept the two events, winning the 3-meter with a score of 287.55 and a 324.65 on the 1-meter, followed by
Marcas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross), who scored 262.40 on the 3-meter and 244.70 on the 1-meter for second in both.
