STATEN ISLAND, NY- The relay team of
Artie Burgess,
Jerome Boyer,
Braeden Haines, and
Freddie Haynesworth IV were able to break a Rider program record as well as an Ocean Breeze facility record in the 4x200m race with a time of 1:26.95 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invitational Friday.
Â
The 1:26.95 time by Burgess, Boyer, Haines, and Haynesworth breaks the previous record of 1:28.30 set back in 2007. For Boyer, it's his third program mark as he was also a part of the 4x400m relay and the Distance Medley teams who each broke records last season. The 4x200m record adds to the resume of Burgess as well who broke the 60m record in 2022 as well.
Marques Merriweather was able to win the 60m hurdles and as pick up an ECAC/IC4A qualifying time of 8.11.
Rider also dominated the field events as the reigning MAAC Field Performer of the Week
Jayden DuBard was able to win the Shot Put with a 15.56m, and
Jacob Eddinger was able to win the Weight Throw with a 17.25m mark.
Noah Kriesman took home the win in the pole vault with a 4.32m clearance.Â
Quotes & Notes
"The men's 4x200 lit up the track with their new Rider and Ocean Breeze facility record. The sprint group has been good from the start this year and they are reaping the rewards. They came back from the holiday break ready to make a mark and they are doing that each week."
"Kriesman got the win in the pole vault. He is hoping for some higher clearances but earning a win is a big part of the growth process. "
"Merriweather and DuBard picked up big wins for the team today. They are the consistent performers that this team needs every week."
"Eddinger had a big day in the weight throw to lead a strong day for the throwers. It is very exciting that he was able to get the IC4A mark today. "-
