Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Cruises Past Saint Peter's, 3-0

Dees figures on all three Rider goals

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Senior Camryn Dees (Pickerington, OH/Pickerington HS North) figured on all three of the Rider University women's soccer team's goals Saturday night as the Broncs defeated Saint Peter's, 3-0, on Ben Cohen Field. Dees scored what proved to be the game winner in the 24th minute, before setting up goals from Lindsey Maslow (Hanover, MA/Hanover) and Hailey Russell (Riverside, NJ/Riverside) later in the half as the Broncs improved to 4-3-2 (1-1-0 MAAC). Saint Peter's slipped to 2-8-0, 1-1-0 MAAC) with the loss.

Dees got the Broncs on the board off a short corner with Maslow in the 24th minute, lofting a shot high over the scrum in front, off the right post and into the back of the net. Just over three minutes later, it was Dees collected a bad Saint Peter's pass and went the other way with a perfect thru ball that set Maslow up one-v-one with Saint Peter's goalkeeper Olivia Mackethan. Maslow took her time, dribbled around the charging Mackethan and deposited into the back of the net.

For good measure, Russell added an insurance goal at the 43-minute mark with a rocket from 30 yards out off another Dees assist. The Dees pass set up Russell in space, before she sent her shot high over Mackethan, but underneath the crossbar for her first goal of the season. Neither team would score in the second half, with Rider goalkeeper Ellie Sciancalepore (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) making two saves to secure her third clean sheet of the year.

Quotes and Notes
"When you have one game a week, it's nice because you get to rest. But when you've lost, it a long time and you want to get out a little bit sooner. It was good. We were able to work on a ton of things. We had to make changes, we made changes. We changed formation and I think the team responded in a positive way. A shutout, scoring three goals, three points – it's almost a perfect Saturday night." – Rider Head Coach Drayson Hounsome

- Rider avenged a 1-0 loss last season in Jersey City to improve its lead in the all-time series with Saint Peter's to 22-5-1.
- The win snapped a five-game winless streak (0-3-2) since the Broncs won their first three games of the year.
- Sciancalepore made two saves in securing her fourth clean sheet of the year. The four shutouts in her nine games played this season match the four she'd compiled in 20 games prior in the 2020-21 and 2021 seasons.
- Sciancalepore, Genevieve Ryan (Auckland, New Zealand/Mount Albert Grammar School), Gabriela Garcia (Caracas, Venezuela/U.E. La Salle La Colina [Iowa Western C.C.]), Camryn Dees (Pickerington, OH/Pickerington HS North), Samantha Sharrocks (Nottinghamshire, England/The Bolsover School) and Olivia Smith (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) each played all 90 minutes.

Broncs By The Numbers
- Dees now has two goals and three assists on the season for seven points, tying with Maslow for second on the team.
- Maslow scored her third goal of the year, good for second on the team, while also adding her first assist of the season.
- Russell scored her first goal of the year, her first since returning to the Broncs following a year at St. Francis Brooklyn. Now her third season in the Cranberry and Gray, she's totaled nine goals as a Bronc.
- Rider took a 15-13 edge in shots. However, the Broncs' enjoyed a much-wider 7-2 discrepancy in shots on goal.
- Both teams took two corner kicks.
- Makenzie Rodrigues (Seattle, WA/Forest Ridge) led the Broncs with three shots, including two on goal.
