Volleyball Drops Match to Binghamton

WASHINGTON, DC – The Rider University volleyball team dropped its final match in Washington DC Saturday morning, falling in three sets to Binghamton in a neutral-site match hosted by Georgetown. The Broncs fall to 2-7 on the season, while the Bearcats improve to 7-2.

Binghamton jumped out to an early lead in the first. Trailing 13-6, Jordan Taylor (Wellington, FL/Wellington) had three-straight kills as part of a 5-0 run to cut the lead to two. The Bearcats countered with an 8-2 run, extending their lead to 21-13 on their way to winning the opening set 25-16.

Binghamton carried over the momentum into the second. Tied 2-2, the Bearcats scored six-straight points to go up 8-2. The Bearcats continued to extend the lead, eventually building a 15-4 advantage. The Broncs slowly whittled away at the lead, but the damage had already been done. Down 24-16, The Broncs staved off four set points on the serve of Jenna Amaro (Davie, FL/Archbishop McCarthy), before ultimately falling 25-20.

The Broncs' struggles carried over to the third set. Tied 6-6, Binghamton went on a 12-2 run that put the match away. Down 23-10, Rider scored four-straight points, including a pair of kills by Christina Blount (Liberty Township, OH/Lakota East), but the Bearcats took the set 25-15.

QUOTES & NOTES
"We are still juggling some things and trying to find the right mix of players on the court that can compete at a consistent level. We saw some good individual performances this weekend, with Nicole getting some action, Kianny seeing some time, and Mo moving into third place for kills at Rider."

"Across the board, this tough start is not entirely on the players. The staff needs to own some of this too and be better in our preparation and building better chemistry." – Head Coach Jeff Rotondo

- Binghamton extends its lead in the all-time series to 3-1.
- Keegan O'Connor (Weatherford, TX/Weatherford) made her first career start at Libero and responded with a career-high 15 digs.

BRONCS BY THE NUMBERS
- The Broncs hit .073 in the match, to Binghamton's .352.
