NEW ORLEANS, LA – The Rider University men's and women's track and field teams were both named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams by the organization on Thursday. In addition to the team accomplishments,
Zach Manorowitz and
Tamrat Snyder of the men's team and
Teagan Schein-Becker of the women's team were selected as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.
"We are very proud of the academic accomplishments of our student athletes," said head coach
Bob Hamer. "They have a strong desire to excel in the classroom and also in the sport of track and field. They are great representatives for Rider University."
To be selected as an All-Academic Team, the team must produce a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The men's team has a cumulative team GPA of 3.21 and the women's team finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.33.
For individuals, student-athletes are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and participate in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships or finish in the top 96 of a championship individual event or top 48 of a championship relay event during the indoor season.
Manorowitz, a sophomore Elementary Education major, finished 31
st in the long jump at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships with a leap of 7.22 meters. Snyder, a sophomore marketing and sport management major, ranked 13
th in the east entering the NCAA East Preliminary Championships in the 800-meters with a time of 1:47.70. Schein-Becker, a senior graphic design major, reached the finals of the 1,500-meters, running less than a tenth of a second off her own program record with a time of 4:18.39 in the preliminaries on her way to a 23
rd-place finish.
