LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University graduate men's golfer
Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) has been named to the 2022 NCAA Division I PING All-Northeast Region Team for the second-straight year, the Golf Coaches Association of America has announced. The two-time McLeod Trophy winner as MAAC Individual Champion becomes Rider's first-ever two-time All-Region honoree. The only other Bronc in Rider Men's Golf history to earn similar distinction was two-time NAIA All-American and Rider Hall of Famer William "Buzz" Costello '65. Under Head Coach
Jason Barry, the Broncs have now had an All-Region selection in each of the last three years (
Jake Sollon, 2020; Devereux, 2021 and 2022).
Devereux shot three-under par (213) to win his second-consecutive McLeod Trophy as MAAC Individual Champion in leading the Broncs to their first-ever conference championship as a team. He was a MAAC All-Academic Team honoree and led the Broncs with a 72.69 stroke average in 29 rounds. He had six Top 10 finishes in 11 tournaments played, including first-place finishes at the Fall Hawk Invite (145, +1) and MAAC Championships (213, -3). Devereux finished sixth at the Battle at Rum Pointe (144, E) en route to MAAC Golfer of the Week honors and finished 10
th at the Bash at the Beach, shooting under par (71) in each of the three rounds (70-68-69, -6). On the season, he shot 70 or better seven times.
