Jason Barry

In his 10th season as Head Coach in 2022-23, Jason Barry has transformed the Rider golf program.

The three-time Golf Digest Best Young Teacher helped the Broncs win their first conference Championship in 2022, lowering their scoring average by nearly 30 strokes per round since taking over the team in 2013.

Barry, also the Director of Instruction at Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, NJ, has helped Rider golfers win individual titles including back to back conference championships (Austin Devereux 21’, 22’). Devereux would be named to the Ping All-Region Team, joining Jake Sollon who was also named to the team in 2019.

Barry has helped transform the practice facilities, set fundraising records, and guided many of his players to jobs inside the golf industry upon graduation.

Barry takes pride in being a leader, mentor, and life coach to all of his players. He also cherishes the relationship he forms with his players and remains in close contact with almost all of them after they graduate.

He’s guided one of his golfers to Top 10 finishes at MAAC Championships, representative of All-MAAC honors, nine times, including two each in three-straight championships (2019, 2021 and 2022 – no championship was contested in 2020). Most recently, he mentored Austin Devereux to four-straight All-MAAC honors, while Parker Mann (T-9th, 2016), Eder Moreno (5th, 2017), Devereux (T-6th, 2018), Devereux (4th) and Jake Sollon (T-7th, 2019), Devereux (1st) and Connor Bekefi (4th, 2021) and Devereux (1st) and Louie Giovacchini (2nd, 2022) give Barry an All-MAAC honoree in each of six-straight seasons.

Barry earned a degree in 2010 from Rider, where he majored in Psychology. He has published instructional articles in PGA Magazine and The Met Golfer Extra.
