FAIRFIELD, CT – The Rider University women's tennis team was defeated 7-0 on the road by the Fairfield Stags, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 3-10 (0-6 MAAC), while the Stags improve to 9-10 (3-3 MAAC).
The Broncs took one of the matches in the doubles, thanks to the partnership of
Leila Koster and Capucine Thiulot, who emerged with a 6-1 victory. But, the Stags would take the other two doubles matches to take the point.
"It just wasn't our day today," said Rider Head Coach
Tom Battaglia. We looked sluggish out there. Tried to fight though it, but we broke down at key moments."
The Stags would take the singles matches with the Broncs defaulting in the 6
th, which allowed the Stags to close out conference play with the 7-0 victory.
"Unforced errors at the wrong time," said Battaglia. "Can't miss point at deuce time and time again and expect to win."
The Broncs return to action Monday, April 18, when they host Loyola for Senior Day. Matches are set to begin at 2 p.m.
