LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men's tennis team was defeated 7-0 by the LUI Sharks, Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 2-6, while the Sharks improve to 12-6.
The Sharks opened with a sweep of the doubles, defeating the Broncs in each of the three matches.
"We didn't execute our doubles plan the way we wanted. We let off the gas at the start of the match and we tried playing catch up too late." – Rider Head Coach
Tom Battaglia
In the singles, LIU continued to clean sweep, earning the next and final six points to close out their victory.
"Singles was a different story. We played smart and had good shot selection. We hit big targets and let the game come to us instead of always trying to force the issue at the wrong time. There are times when 7-0 losses are bad and this isn't one of them. A lot of good to take into conference play next week." – Rider Head Coach
Tom Battaglia.
The Broncs return to action Sunday, April 3
rd when they open conference play against the Siena Saints in Loudonville, NY. Matches are set to begin at 12:00P.M.
