EDISON, NJ (Feb. 7, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) today announced Rider University as the host of the 2022 MAAC Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The championships are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 7 and 8 at Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
The 2022 Outdoor Track & Field Championships were originally set to be held at Kessler Stadium in West Long Branch, NJ, hosted by Monmouth University. The change in venue is a result from the January 24
th announcement of Monmouth's withdrawal from the MAAC, effective June 30, 2022. Per the MAAC bylaws, an institution withdrawing from the conference membership shall forfeit immediately all rights to host a MAAC championship (
Section 8.8, D, 1), therefore, Monmouth is no longer eligible to host the 2022 Outdoor Track& Field championship. MAAC bylaws do permit Monmouth's athletic programs and its student-athletes to participate in conference championships until the school's departure.
This will mark the 22
nd time that the MAAC Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted at Rider, more than any other location. The event was held in Lawrenceville annually from 1998 through 2014, before a three-year stint from 2016-2018 and last spring during the 2021 championships.
