What You Need To Know
- Rider plays host to MAAC Regular Season Champion Iona Sunday.
- It is Pride Night in the Broncs Zoo and Rider will be entertained by drag performer Cyannie Lopez at halftime.
- The first 100 fans through the doors of Alumni Gym will receive a cranberry Rider R Pride t-shirt.
- General admission section VIII will be reserved for students only and multiple giveaways will blanket the seats.
- The Broncs got back in the win column Friday, holding off Niagara, 70-68. Rider never trailed in the game.
- Rider has played the last four games even through regulation, matching the opponents' 273 points. However, the Broncs lost twice in overtime (Siena, Manhattan) and one more by two at Monmouth, before holding off Niagara by two.
The Gaels lead the all-time series, 44-26, including wins in each of the last seven. The Broncs' last win over Iona came in a 110-101 affair Feb. 25, 2018, as Rider clinched a share of the 2018 MAAC Regular Season title and the top seed.
- Tyson Jolly leads Iona at 14.7 points per game, while Nelly Junior Joseph has added 12.9 points and a team-leading 8.1 rebounds per game. Elijah Joiner (11.9 ppg.) also averages in double figures to go along with a team-high 3.4 assists per game. Quinn Slazinski (8.6 ppg.), Dylan Van Eyck (8.0 ppg.) and Walter Clayton, Jr. (6.9 ppg.) also provide scoring punch.
- Allen Powell has stepped up over the last 10 games, averaging 15.2 points.
- Dimencio Vaughn became Rider's all-time steals leader with five thefts against Saint Peter's on Jan. 16. His total now stands at 214 steals. He also moved into 10th in scoring (1,581) on Feb. 11 at Saint Peter's, while his 780 rebounds rank seventh. Already the only player in the top 15 in points, rebounds, blocks and steals, his 81st block on Feb. 13 put him in the top 10 in all four categories.
- Rider held Saint Peter's without a field goal for a stretch of 12:32 in the second half to defeat the Peacocks. The only bucket the RU allowed over the final 12:42 of regulation was a lay-up with nine seconds remaining and the game in hand.
- 10th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 158-149 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider.
