What You Need To Know
- Rider opens a two-game homestand Friday night against Niagara.
- Rider will recognize it's student-athletes at halftime for academic achievement night.
- The Broncs have partnered with the Center of Diversity and Inclusion for a colorful connections celebration.
- After winning four straight and five of six, the Broncs have fallen in three straight after trailing by a combined two points at the end of regulation. Rider fell to Siena and Manhattan in overtime and at Monmouth by two.
- Rider leads the all-time series with Niagara, 29-24, including a comeback win from down 17 points this past Jan. 23 in Western New York. The Broncs have won the last four meetings in Alumni Gym and six of seven under Head Coach Kevin Baggett. Baggett's teams are 14-4 overall against Niagara.
- Marcus Hammond leads Niagara at 17.8 points per game, shooting 37.7 percent from long range and 82.4 percent from the free-throw line. He's joined in double figures by Noah Thomasson (10.4 ppg.), who's also averaged a team-high 3.6 assists per game. Jordan Cintron (9.1 ppg., 6.0 rpg.) is next in scoring, while Sam Iorio (8.9 ppg.) has grabbed a team-best 6.3 rebounds per game. Greg Kuakumensah (7.2 ppg.) and Justin Roberts (6.0 ppg.) have also contributed.
- Allen Powell has stepped up over the last nine games, averaging 15.3 points.
- Dimencio Vaughn became Rider's all-time steals leader with five thefts against Saint Peter's on Jan. 16. His total now stands at 212 steals. He also moved into 10th in scoring (1,572) on Feb. 11 at Saint Peter's, while his 769 rebounds rank ninth. Already the only player in the top 15 in points, rebounds, blocks and steals, his 81st block on Feb. 13 put him in the top 10 in all four categories.
- Rider held Saint Peter's without a field goal for a stretch of 12:32 in the second half to defeat the Peacocks. The only bucket the RU allowed over the final 12:42 of regulation was a lay-up with nine seconds remaining and the game in hand.
- 10th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 157-149 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider.
