What You Need To Know
- The Broncs had won three straight against Monmouth and at Mount St. Mary's and Stonehill prior to a one-point heartbreaker to Delaware Monday.
- Rider Basketball is offering a buy one, get one free deal for general admission tickets as a holiday special.
- Dwight Murray, Jr. has scored at least 17 points in all nine games this season, including 30 against Central Arkansas, matching his career high. For the season, he's averaging 19.6 ppg., shooting 43.5 percent from deep. Murray's 3.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game are best on the team, while his 5.1 rebounds are second.
- Mervin James contributed 23 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in a Dec. 7 win at Stonehill. It was his first double-double at Rider and the 10th of his collegiate career. Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson contributed 19 points and nine rebounds.
- Rider leads the all-time series with Marist, 40-26. The series dates back just over 42 years to Dec. 20, 1980, when the Broncs won the opener in Lawrenceville.
- The Red Foxes are led by St. Michael's College graduate transfer center Patrick Gardner, who at 6-foot-11 averages a team-high 17.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He's the only Red Fox averaging in double figures, with Noah Harris (9.5 ppg.), Javon Cooley (8.7 ppg., 5.5 rpg.), Anthony Cooper (7.2 ppg.) and Kam Farris (7.2 ppg.) providing strong contributions.
- Rider returned four starters and 74 percent of its scoring from a year ago, including Preseason All-MAAC First Team selection Dwight Murray, Jr. and All-MAAC Third Team selections Mervin James and Allen Powell.
- The Broncs reached the MAAC Semifinals for the first time in a decade last season, knocking off top-seeded Iona on a Murray floater with seven seconds remaining in the MAAC Quarterfinals.
- The Broncs were picked third in the MAAC Preseason Poll.
- 11th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 165-157 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider.
