Field Hockey Closes Out Season in NCAA Tournament

EVANSTON, IL – The Rider University field hockey team saw its season come to an end Wednesday afternoon, falling 7-1 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament to Miami University (OH). The Broncs close out the season at 15-6, while the RedHawks advance and improve to 14-7 on the year.
 
Miami jumped out to an early lead in the first, scoring off a pair of penalty corners. In the second, the RedHawks found the back of the cage three additional times to make it 5-0 at the half.
 
Two additional goals in the third extended the Miami lead to 7-0.
 
The Broncs got on the board in the fourth. The Broncs earned a corner and Valeria Perales (Madrid, Spain/IES Mirasierra) inserted to Sierra Giuliano (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Regional). Giuliano fired a shot that found the back of the cage to put Rider on the board.
