What You Need To Know
- Rider has opened the season with a one-point loss at Providence and an 87-50 win over local foe The College of New Jersey.
- RU will play a pair of MAAC/ASUN Dublin Challenge games on ESPNU Friday and Saturday mornings against Stetson and Central Arkansas, respectively.
- Stetson has won a pair of road contests at Florida State and South Florida so far this season. Luke Brown leads the Hatters at 23.5 points per game, while Alvin Tumblin (11.5 ppg.), Stephan Swenson (11.5 ppg., 5.0 apg.) and Cyncier Harrison (11.0 ppg.) all average in double figures, while Wheza Panzo has added 7.5 ppg. and 5.5 rpg.
- Central Arkansas is 2-1 on the young season with a loss at Wichita State and wins over Hendrix and Little Rock. Eddy Kayouloud (14.3 ppg.) leads five Bears in double figures, along with Camren Hunger (13.0 ppg., 5.0 apg.), Carl Daugherty, Jr. (13.0 ppg., 6.0 rpg.), Collin Cooper (11.3 ppg.) and Masai Olowokere (10.7 ppg., 7.7 rpg.).
- Dwight Murray, Jr. has led the Broncs at 17.5 ppg., 5.5 rpg. and 3.0 apg. so far this season. He's shot 52.2 percent (12-23) from the floor and 71.4 percent (5-7) from long range.
- Rider returned four starters and 74 percent of its scoring from a year ago, including Preseason All-MAAC First Team selection Dwight Murray, Jr. and All-MAAC Third Team selections Mervin James and Allen Powell.
- The Broncs reached the MAAC Semifinals for the first time in a decade last season, knocking off top-seeded Iona on a Murray floater with seven seconds remaining in the MAAC Quarterfinals.
- Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson is back for his fifth year in Lawrenceville. Having already played 111 games for the Broncs, a healthy year would allow him to surpass Mike Ringgold's Rider-record 133 career games played. However, visa issues will prevent his from playing in the two games in Ireland.
- The Broncs were picked third in the MAAC Preseason Poll.
- 11th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 162-153 record.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider.
