Women's Soccer Edged By Fairfield, 1-0

Sciancalepore stops season-high 12 shots

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJEllie Sciancalepore (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) made a season-high 12 saves, but the Rider University women's soccer team fell to Fairfield, 1-0, Saturday afternoon on Ben Cohen Field. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 5-5-2, 2-3-0 MAAC), while the Stags are now 10-3-0 (5-1-0 MAAC).

Fairfield took a 27-2 edge in shots for the game, including a 13-0 advantage in shots on goal. Many of the Stags' shots came from outside of the 18-yard box, with Sciancalepore making six saves in each period. However, one chance got through in the 30th minute. Sydney Corbett played a thru ball down the right sideline to Elle Scott, who crossed in front to Reagan Klarmann, who finished on one touch with her left foot inside the six-yard box for the game-winning goal.

- Fairfield leads the all-time series with Rider, 19-7-3. Rider had gone unbeaten in four-straight from 2017 through Spring 2021 (2-0-2), before Fairfield defeated the Broncs, 3-0, last Sept. 25 in Connecticut. – After earning shutout victories over Saint Peter's (Sept. 24) and Manhattan (Sept. 28), the Broncs have taken a pair of tough 1-0 losses in their last two.
