SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team opened the 2022-23 season with a 167-128 dual-meet setback against Seton Hall Saturday afternoon.
The Bronc men won six events in the meet.
Rider started slow, but finally broke through with a win in the 50-free.
Billy Ruddy (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional) earned the victory in his collegiate debut, touching the wall at 20.86.
Sean Binning (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) then won the 1-meter with a score of 290.40.
Lucas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) continued the momentum in the 100-free, winning in 46.15. He later led a Rider sweep in the 200-IM, winning in 1:55.11 ahead of
David Rucci's (Sewell, NJ/Gateway Regional) 1:57.85 and
David Cooper's (Spring, TX/Klein Oak) 2:01.26.
Cooper also won the 200-breast with a winning time of 2:08.00.
The Broncs ended the day by winning the 200-free relay, as the team of
Joe Gewartowski (Fort Washington, PA/Upper Dublin), Ruddy,
Cesar Alvarez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/The Ashton School), and
Bobby Irwin (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) combined for a time of 1:25.79.

Ethan Rogowski (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa) took third in the 1,000-free.
- Racevicius added a second-place finish in the 200-free.

- Irwin claimed third in both the 200-fly and 100-fly.

Christian Overton swam two-three in the 200-back.
- Binning and
Marcas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) were second and third in the 3-meter respectively.
