LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team found success in their home opener Saturday afternoon, defeating Lehigh 192.5-95.5. The Broncs even their record at 1-1, while the Mountain Hawks fall to 1-3.
The Bronc men won 14 events in the meet.
Rider started the day with a win in the 200-medley relay.
Lucas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross),
David Cooper (Spring, TX/Klein Oak),
Nicholas Lane (Hackettstown, NJ/Lane Academy), and
Billy Ruddy (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional) combined to touch the wall at 1:31.86.
Ethan Rogowski (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa),
Derek Fantano, and
Brayden Murphy (Victor, NY/Victor Sr.) finished one-two-three in the 1,000-free with times of 9:49.35, 9:54.52, and 10:02.95 respectively. Rogowski then won the 500-free in 4:47.53.
Racevicius took the 200-free with a time of 1:42.53 and the 100-fly in 50.12.
Lane and
Christian Overton went one-two in the 100-back with times of 51.30 and 51.48. Overton,
David Rucci (Sewell, NJ/Gateway Regional), and Fantano swept the 200-back in 1:51.43, 1:54.85, and 1:56.12.
Cooper swam one-two with
Reuben Williams (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) in the 100-breast. The pair stopped the clock at 57.94 and 59.77. Cooper also won the 200-breast in 2:07.85.
Bobby Irwin (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) and Rucci swam 1:52.67 and 1:55.59 in the 200-fly to finish one-two.
Ruddy tied for first in the 50-free in 21.15.
Rucci was victorious in the 200-IM with a time of 1:55.32.
In the diving well,
Sean Binning (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) and
Marcas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) split the events with Binning taking first over Racevicius 285.68-243.15 in the 1-meter and Racevicius topping Binning 300.83-253.43 in the 3-meter.
