Field Hockey Faces Crucial Road Test Friday Before Senior Day Sunday

What You Need To Know
- Friday's game will be broadcast live on NEC Front Row with Sunday's game on ESPN3.
- Sunday's game will be senior day when the Broncs honor their eight graduating senior members, Mia Frontino (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial), Kiki van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Montessori Lyceum Amsterdam), Amanda Zambrana (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson), Danielle Tyson (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South), Maeve Riehman (Norristown, PA/Archbishop Carroll), Sierra Giuliano (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reginal), Hannah Hartwell (Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Regional), and Kaitlyn Tomas (Campbellville, Ontario/Appleby College).
- The Broncs were picked to finish third in the NEC Preseason Coaches Poll. Rider finished fourth in the regular season a year ago, and held a 1-0 lead over top-seeded Fairfield in the NEC Tournament before ultimately falling 2-1.
- Rider has made the postseason 22-straight years.
- Rider's roster features players from six different countries, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, and the United States.
- Rider earned a 3-1 win over no. 25 American on Oct. 2. It was the Broncs' first-ever win over a ranked opponent.
- Valeria Perales (Madrid, Spain/IES Mirasierra) has been a force in her freshman campaign. She leads all freshman and ranks sixth among all players nationally with 15 goals and 1.07 goals per game. She also leads the NEC with eight assists. She has three been named NEC Offensive Player of the Week, and four times been chosen as NEC Rookie of the Week.
- Tomas leads the NEC in both save percentage (.782) and goals against average (1.27). She has been named NEC Defensive Player of the Week once an NEC Prime performer four times this season.
- Indy Zoontjens (Hilversum, Netherlands/Alberdingk Thijm College) has scored a point in nine-straight games including a goal in Rider's win over American. The freshman is up to eight goals and six assists on the season.
- Semra Said (Mannheim, Germany/Feudenheim Gymnasium Mannheim) has scored multiple goals in back-to-back games. She has scored six goals in her last five contests.
- The Broncs rank fifth in the country in penalty corners drawn per game. Rider averages 8.29 per contest.
- Rider is out-shooting its opponents 203-139 on the year, including a 34-2 shot advantage over Stonehill last Friday.
- The Broncs lead the all-time series against LIU 4-1. Either the Broncs or Sharks have been in the NEC title game in each of the last four seasons with the teams meeting up for the game in the spring of 2021.
- Friday's game is important with both teams entering the contest at 3-1 with three conference games remaining. The Sharks and Broncs each have their lone conference loss this season against Saint Francis University.
- Saarah Olton leads the Sharks this season with seven goals and 16 points.
- Rider leads the all-time series over Wagner 2-1. With less than three minutes remaining in a 1-1 game last season, Wagner was awarded and converted a penalty stroke to earn the victory.
- Wagner is the last unbeaten team in NEC play at 4-0. The Seahawks have won their four conference games by a combined score of 25-3.
- Five Seahawks have scored six or more goals so far this season, led by Julia Pastorino's nine.
