Men's Basketball Looks For Season Split With Canisius Sunday

Broncs look to avenge Jan. 21 one-point loss to Griffs

What You Need To Know
- Rider wraps up a weekend homestand Sunday vs. Canisius.
- Rider looks to avenge a Jan. 21 loss in Buffalo, when Armon Harried hit a 15-foot runner with 2.2 seconds remaining to give the Griffs a 70-69 win.
- Rider will be celebrating its mascot AJ's birthday at the game. There are multiple mascots from the surrounding area scheduled to surprise AJ. Lucky fans will receive candy.
- Following the game, the team will sign autographs on the schedule poster. Posters and sharpies will be provided.
- The Broncs had dropped four-straight before storming back from down 17 at the half at Niagara to earn a 70-67 win. 
- Rider leads the all-time series with Canisius, 38-16. However, the recent series has been much closer, with Rider Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams posting a 9-9 record against the Griffs over the last 10 seasons. Seven of those meetings were decided by two points or less, including six by a single point. In those meetings, Rider is 4-3. 11 of the meetings were decided by six points or less, with the Broncs leading the series in those instances, 6-5.
- Harried leads Canisius at 12.1 points per game, while Malek Green is next at 11.5 ppg. Jordan Henderson also averages in double figures at 10.0 ppg. Ahamadou Fofana just misses the mark at 9.6 ppg. to go along with 3.4 assists per game. Jacco Fritz has chipped in with 7.8 points and a team-high 5.5 rebounds per game, while Scott Hitchon is another strong offensive option at 7.6 ppg.
- Dimencio Vaughn became Rider's all-time steals leader with five thefts against Saint Peter's on Jan. 16. His total now stands at 198 steals. He also reached 700 rebounds at Rider on Jan. 23 at Niagara to move into 15th in program history. He's now the only player in the top 15 in school history in points (1,483-11th), rebounds (709-14th), blocks (77-14th) and steals (198-1st). 
- Rider shot a season-high 57.1 percent (28-49) Jan. 9 at Marist, including 64.3 percent (9-14) from long range. For his 14-point, 11-assist effort, Dwight Murray, Jr. was named MAAC Player of the Week.
- 10th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 153-146 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider than Baggett.
