NEWARK, NJ – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team was dominant Saturday, defeating NJIT 195-105. The Broncs improve to 5-1 on the season, while the Highlanders even their record at 3-3.
The Broncs won 13 events on the day on their way to victory.
Rider opened the day winning the 200-medley relay.
Lucas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross),
David Cooper (Spring, TX/Klein Oak),
Jack Ruggieri (Bellmawr, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), and
Joe Gewartowski (Fort Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) combined to stop the clock at 1:32.00.
Kyle Iorizzo (Norwood, NJ/Old Tappan Regional) earned the first individual Bronc victory of the day in the 1,000-free with a time of 9:44.33.
Brayden Murphy (Victor, NY/Victor Senior) and
Christian Overton completed the sweep with times of 10:06.72 and 10:13.36.
Lucas Racevicius continued the strong performance in the 200-free, with a winning time of 1:41.54. He would later win the 200-back in a time of 1:51.66.
David Rucci (Sewell, NJ/Gateway Regional) and Overton swam 51.32 and 51.37 in the 100-back for a one-two finish. Rucci later won the 200-IM with a time of 1:55.30.
Cooper and
Alex Boeckx (Folsom, PA/Ridley) went one-two in the 100-breast, touching the wall at 57.01 and 57.97. Cooper also won the 200-breast in 2:06.47.
Ruggieri, Gewartowki, and
Webster Bozzo (Christansted, U.S. Virgin Islands/Good Hope Country Day) swept the 50-free with times of 21.32, 21.40, and 21.49 respectively.
In the diving well,
Sean Binning (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) and
Marcas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) took first and second in the 3-meter with scores of 287.85 and 257.15. Binning completed the sweep, taking the 1-meter with a score of 246.40.
David McSorley (West Deptford, NJ/GCIT) won the 100-free in 46.72.

Lucas Racevicius, Boeckx, and Gewartowski swam 1:24.01 to win the 200-free relay to close out the day.
