CHATTANOOGA, TN -
Quinn Kinner (Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway [Ohio State]) was the lone Bronc to reach the podium on Day Two of the Southern Scuffle on Sunday.
Richie Koehler (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) and
David Szuba (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) also entered the day in the hunt for a podium spot but were both eliminated in the blood round.
Kinner earned a placement by virtue of his 9-0 major decision over Maryland's David Bertoni. After dropping a 7-3 decision to Iowa's Wyatt Henson, Kinner received a medical forfeit from Cornell's Josh Saunders to finish seventh.
Ethan Laird and
McKenzie Bell also competed unattached at the Illinois Matmen Open that took place on Thursday, December 30
th. Laird claimed 2
nd place at 285 after his bout against three-time All-American Trent Hillger from Wisconsin. Bell finished 6
th place at 141.
