LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University senior guard
Dwight Murray, Jr. has been named MAAC Player of the Year, the league office today announced. Murray compiled his team-leading third double-double of the year with 14 points, a career-high 11 assists and six rebounds in the Broncs' 79-75 win at Marist on Sunday.
The honor is the second of Murray's career. The first also came following contests against Marist, last January, when he averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in a two-game split against the Red Foxes. This time around, Murray shot 4-of-9 from the floor, including 2-for-3 from long range, while racking up 11 of the Broncs' season-high 18 assists on the day.
For the year, Murray is averaging 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He's also hit at 30.2 percent from long range and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line.
The Broncs return to action Friday, when they play host to Quinnipiac on ESPN+.
