Field Hockey Opens NEC Play Friday, Hosts Lock Haven Sunday

What You Need To Know
- Friday's game will be broadcast live on NEC Front Row.
- The Broncs were picked to repeat as NEC Champions in the preseason poll of the league's coaches. Five of the eight coaches placed Rider first on their ballot.
- Rider is 2-1 through three games in its four-game road trip. The Broncs topped Towson and Hofstra with identical 3-2 overtime scores, bracketing a one-goal setback at Drexel.
- Carly Brosious (Drexel Hill, PA/Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast) and Tess van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Sint Nicolaas Lyceum) were named NEC Prime Performers after combining for all three goals in the overtime win over Hofstra. Trailing, 2-0, entering the fourth quarter, Brosious got the Broncs on the board, then van Ommeren tied the game. Brosious completed the comeback with the overtime winner.
- Brosious and Julia Divorra (Terrasa, Spain/Vedruna Vall) lead the NEC with 17 points this season. Their 2.12 points per game rank eighth in the country.
- Rider has been one of the best teams in the country at earning penalty corners, ranking 14th nationally with an average of 7.25 per game.
- The Broncs have defeated Merrimack in both of their previous meetings, including a 7-0 victory last season. Lock Haven holds a 12-5 advantage over in the all-time series. The series has been extremely close, with six straight games being decided by a single goal.
- Merrimack has struggled to an 0-8 record this season. The Warriors have played just a single one-goal game this season, a 2-1 loss at Brown. Lock Haven is 3-5 this season. After winning back-to-back games with identical 6-2 scores, the Bald Eagles dropped a 1-0 game to Cornell on Wednesday.
- Lock Haven goalie Joaquina Orlandini ranks fourth in the country, averaging 7.43 saves per game.
