Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Fairfield Defeats Women's Soccer

Two early Fairfield goals too much to overcome

FAIRFIELD, CT – The Rider University women's soccer team fell to Fairfield Saturday afternoon at Lessing Field, 3-0. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 2-5-1 (0-2 MAAC), while the Stags improve to 5-2-3 (1-0-1 MAAC).

Fairfield opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Gabby Diodati was able to put the ball into the back of the net off of a penalty kick. Fairfield struck again in the 15th minute when Lexi Lehan sent the ball just above the reach of Rider goalkeeper Ellie Sciancalepore (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) to give the Stags a 2-0 advantage that it'd maintain into halftime.

The second half saw Fairfield continue to apply pressure and widen the gap, with Lehan scoring her second goal of the game in the 57th minute. The Stags prevented the Rider offense from taking more than one shot in the second half to seal the 3-0 victory.
