Defending MAAC Champion Siena Edges Women's Soccer in Overtime

Fisher scores team-leading fourth goal

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Chloe Fisher (Warrington, England/Cronton Sixth Form College) scored for the Broncs, but the Rider University women's soccer team fell to reigning MAAC Champion Siena Saturday afternoon at Hickey Field. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 2-4-1 (0-1 MAAC), while the Saints improve to 3-5 (1-0 MAAC).

Rider opened the scoring in the first half when Mackenzie Rodriguez (Seattle, WA/Forest Ridge) passed the ball to Fisher, who rocketed the ball into the top left of the net in the 41st minute. Siena answered back two minutes later when Jayanna Monds connected a pass to Julianna Kissane, who would equalize to end the first half.

Both teams created opportunities in the second half, but none would see the back of the net. At the end of regulation play, the score would still be tied 1-1, sending the game into overtime. In overtime, Danielle Borrino scored the golden goal in the 93rd minute to give the Saints the 2-1 victory.
