LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men's soccer team erupted for three second-half goals to earn a 3-1 win over Stony Brook Tuesday evening on Ben Cohen Field. With the win, the Broncs improve to 2-3-1, while the Seawolves slip to 4-2-0.
Following a chippy, scoreless first half that saw four yellow cards issued, the Broncs broke the deadlock in the 55
th minute, with
Lenny Cidolit (Montpellier, France/Montpellier Univ. [UCF]) knocking it in on one touch off a long throw in from
Jeremy Peterson (Noisy Le Grand, France/Sarbonne Paris Nord). The lead extended to 2-0 in the 68
th minute, with
Justin Ruffino (Sewell, NJ/Pitman) making a run into the box to head in
Adel Al-Masude's free kick from just outside the 18-yard box.
Rider would extend its lead to 3-0 in the 74
th minute, when
Zaki Alibou (Meknes, Morocco/Meknes) finished Ruffino's pass ahead of the pack, left to right inside the far post. Stony Brook managed a goal at the 87:26 mark. Jordan Riley ran down a corner kick knocked aside, turned and shot on one touch inside the right upper 90. But the Seawolves could draw no closer.

- Alibou scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season. Rider has scored a goal in four of six games this season, with Alibou getting into the scoring column on all four occasions. He now has five goals in 11 career games with the Broncs.
