LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men's tennis team was swept by Fairfield, 7-0, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 1-8 (1-3 MAAC), while the Stags are now 4-2 (2-0 MAAC).
The Stags took all three doubles flights. The closest Rider could come to a win was a 6-3 defeat by
Javier Melendez (Cayey, Puerto Rico/Colegio Nuestra Senora de la Merced) and
Peter Komosinski (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Laurel Springs) to Stathis Tsiranidis and Kaya Gore at No. 1.
In singles, Fairfield took all six flights.
Paul Lenz (Ratingen, German/Suitbertus Gymnasium) forced a third set, but fell to Lewis Edwards, 3-6, 6-3, 10-2, at No. 4. Ben Tauber (Bethlehem, PA/Nazareth Area) was competitive at No. 5, but fell, 6-3, 6-3, to Keean Shah. No other Bronc took more than two games in singles.
Rider returns to action Wednesday, April 14, when it welcomes La Salle to Lawrenceville for a 3 p.m. first serve.
