Scott Shaw (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team.
Quinnipiac was named the preseason favorite, taking 103 points and five first-place votes. Marist slotted in second with 94 points and two first-place votes, followed by Fairfield with 91 points. Manhattan took three first-place votes and 89 points, ahead of Canisius (87 points) and Monmouth (75 points). Rider took 56 points, including one first-place vote, ahead of Niagara (47 points), Siena (44 points), Iona (29 points) and Saint Peter's (11 points).
The Broncs posted a 6-8 record in an abbreviated 2020 season, sweeping Charleston Southern in the opening weekend of the year. The Broncs also earned wins over East Tennessee State, Lafayette and James Madison before the year was halted.
Shaw shone brightly as a true freshman in 2020, batting .368 with a pair of doubles, six runs scored and six RBI's in 13 games played. He posted a .442 on-base percentage and stole a base. He sparked the Rider offense with a two-run single and scored a run in his collegiate debut, a come-from-behind 6-4 win at Charleston Southern on Feb. 15. He had four multi-hit games and hit safely 10 times in 13 games played.
