BROOKVILLE, NY –
Carly Brosious (Drexel Hill, PA/Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast) scored the game-winning goal just 7:55 into the first quarter to give the Rider University field hockey team a season-opening win at LIU Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Broncs move to 1-0, while the Sharks are now 0-1.
Sierra Giuliano (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Regional) passed in front to Brosious, who tipped it past Sharks goalie Rachel Vellis for the score. Rider would threaten the rest of the game, taking a 10-3 edge in shots and a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal. But the 1-0 margin would be good enough to take the win.
