Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Rider University women's basketball team fell on the road at Marist, 70-57, on Monday evening in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action.
The Broncs (5-16, 4-12 MAAC) saw their fourth-quarter lead slip away as the Red Foxes (12-2, 10-2 MAAC) rallied to score their fourth straight victory.
After
Makayla Firebaugh (Winchester, VA/James Wood) opened the scoring in the fourth quarter with a runner to give Rider a 47-43 lead, Marist answered with a 17-3 run that lasted nearly seven minutes as the Red Foxes built a double-digit advantage.
During the spurt, Marist was 5-of-7 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range, while Rider went 1-of-6 from the floor and committed a trio of turnovers.
All told, Marist outscored Rider 27-12 over the final 10 minutes of action. In the second half, the Broncs were whistled for 20 fouls and the Red Foxes committed just six.
Three Broncs scored in double figures led by Firebaugh with 15.
Daija Moses (Toronto, Ontario/Henry Street) added 12 points and
Victoria Toomey (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore) added 11.
