Men's Basketball Opens MAAC Play at Defending Champion Iona

Broncs wrap up seven-game stretch away from home Friday

What You Need To Know
- Rider returns to action for the last of seven-straight games away from home following road games at Bucknell and Buffalo, two games at the Cancun Challenge and true road games at South Carolina and Ole Miss.
- The Broncs face Iona in their MAAC opener. Rider is 6-3 in MAAC openers under Kevin Baggett, including wins in each of the last three. 
- Most recently, the Broncs have fallen in their last two at SEC foes South Carolina and Ole Miss this past Sunday and Tuesday.
- Dwight Murray, Jr. stands just three points shy of 1,000 for his collegiate career.
- The Gaels lead the all-time series, 43-26, including wins in each of the last six.
- Iona opened MAAC play with a 78-71 win at Marist Wednesday. The Gaels' signature win this season came over then-No. 10 Alabama at the ESPN Events Invitational on Thanksgiving. Tyson Jolly leads the Gaels at 14.6 points per game, while Nelly Junior Joseph is close behind at 13.9 ppg. and a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game. Quinn Slazinski (11.1 ppg.) also average in double figures. Elijah Joiner (9.4 ppg.) and Dylan van Eyck (9.2 ppg.) just miss double figures.
- Mervin James was named to the Cancun Challenge All-Tournament Team after scoring 23 points against Bucknell. Dwight Murray, Jr. also added a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds to go along with six assists in the win.
- A Preseason All-MAAC First Team honoree, Murray scored in double figures in each of the Broncs' first eight games before a nine-point output at Ole Miss.
- Dwight Murray, Jr. and Dimencio Vaughn were named to the Preseason All-MAAC First and Second Teams, respectively.
- The Broncs were picked fifth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- 10th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 150-139 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider than Baggett.
