Men's Basketball Travels to Cancun Challenge Tuesday and Wednesday

What You Need To Know
- Rider travels to Riviera Maya Mexico to take part in the Cancun Challenge, Tuesday (Middle Tennessee) and Wednesday (Bucknell or Mercer) on FloHoops. 
- The Broncs have lost two straight at Bucknell and Buffalo.
- Dwight Murray, Jr. went for a career-high 30 points to go along with 13 rebounds at Bucknell, while Corey McKeithan scored a season-high 13 points to lead the Broncs at Buffalo.
- Rider is playing in the Cancun Challenge for the third time (2009-10, 2015-16) and in Mexico for the fourth (2012 Hoops for Hope Classic, Puerto Vallarta).
- Rider and Middle Tennessee are meeting for the first time. A meeting with Mercer would be the third, with the two teams splitting match-ups in 1973-74 and 1988-89. Meanwhile, Rider and Bucknell haven't met since this past Wednesday.
- Middle Tennessee is 3-1 this season, with wins over NAIA school Brescia University, Bethune-Cookman and Winthrop and a loss to Stephen F. Austin.
- Josh Jefferson leads the Blue Raiders at 13.8 points per game. Eli Lawrence is close behind at 11.5 ppg. to go along with a team-high 5.0 rebounds per game. Four others average between 8.8 and 7.5 ppg.
- The Blue Raiders have forced an average of 21.0 turnovers per game. 
- Dwight Murray, Jr. and Dimencio Vaughn were named to the Preseason All-MAAC First and Second Teams, respectively.
- The Broncs were picked fifth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll a year after finishing 11th of 11 teams in 2020-21.
- 10th-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 149-136 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider than Baggett.
