- The Broncs were picked to repeat as NEC Champions in the preseason poll of the league's coaches. Five of the eight coaches placed Rider first on their ballot. Fairfield finished second in the poll and received the remaining three first-place votes.

The Broncs are 4-0 in the all-time series since LIU was created with the combining of LIU Brooklyn and CW Post. Rider defeated the Sharks 5-0 in the NEC Championship game during the spring.
