HAMDEN, CT –
Zaki Alibou (Meknes, Morocco, Meknes) scored twice as the Rider University men's soccer team soundly defeated MAAC Preseason favorite Quinnipiac, 4-2, on the road Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Broncs even their record at 4-4-1 (1-1-0 MAAC), while the Bobcats slip to 6-4-0 (1-2-0 MAAC).
Regis Dulck (Ostwald, France/Lycee Jean Monnet Strasbourg) opened the scoring in the 11
th minute, heading in
Sergio Aguinaga's (Madrid, Spain/Antonio Dominguez Ortiz) corner kick. In the 40
th minute, Alibou collected
Adel Al-Masude's (Brussels, Belgium) ball into the box and finished for the 2-0 lead.
Francisco Gomez Olano (Cadiz, Spain/Univ. of Cadiz) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal from an impossible angle just outside the left post across the mouth of goal in the 50
th minute to put Rider on top, 3-0. After Quinnipiac cut the deficit back to two on a free kick in the 63
rd minute, Alibou collected Aguinaga's pass, got into the box and finished for his second tally of the day to make it 4-1. Quinnipiac scored a header off a set piece in the 90
th minute to account for the 4-2 final score.

- Rider now leads the all-time series with Quinnipiac, 7-4-0, including a 4-2 mark in Hamden and wins in four of the last five at QU.
