NEW YORK, NY – Maya Walker scored with 41 seconds remaining, breaking a 1-1 tie and giving the Columbia University field hockey team a win over Rider Sunday night. The win evens the Lions record at 8-8 on the year, while the Broncs close out the regular season at 11-7.
Late in the third quarter,
Carly Brosious (Drexel Hill, PA/Monsignor Bonner [Archbishop Prendergast]) ripped a blast that the Columbia goalie got a piece of, but the deflection went up and over her, landing in the goal to put the Broncs on top.
Midway through the fourth, the Lions answered. Kelsey Farkas received a pass in the middle of the circle and made a beautiful chip shot that found the back of the cage, tying the game and setting up Walker's heroics.
