Divorra Records 100th Career Point as Field Hockey Defeats Bryant

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University field hockey team got two goals from Julia Divorra (Terrassa, Spain/Vedruna Vall) and a goal and two assists from Tess van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Sint Nicolaas Lyceum) to defeat Bryant University, 5-1, Friday evening. The Broncs improve to 9-4 overall and 2-2 in the NEC with the win. The Bulldogs drop to 0-13 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

The Broncs got off to a hot start, as Divorra received the insert of a penalty corner from Kiki van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Montessori Lyceum Amsterdam) and scored her 10th of the season just over five minutes into the game. Later in the quarter on another Rider corner, Danielle Tyson (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) deflected a Tess van Ommeren shot into the cage to put Rider up, 2-0. Divorra found the back of the cage less than a minute later when she played a through ball to Carly Brosious (Drexel Hill, PA/Monsignor Bonner [Archbishop Prendergast]), who returned the pass to Divorra who scored her second of the game.

The Broncs continued to pour on goals in the second quarter. It was the sibling connection of Kiki and Tess van Ommeren who combined to score off a corner early in the period, then Tess van Ommeren found Brosious with a long lead pass that put Brosious in alone with the Bulldog goalie. Brosious finished the play to extend the lead to 5-0 at the half.

The Bulldogs responded in the second half, scoring off a rebound to produce the final score.
