LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ –
Chloe Fisher (Warrington, England/Cronton Sixth Form College) scored the game-winning goal in overtime for the second-straight game as the Rider University women's soccer team earned a 2-1 win in double overtime over Marist on Ben Cohen Field Wednesday night. With the win, the Broncs improve to 5-6-2 (3-3-1 MAAC), while the Red Foxes fall to 4-5-2 (3-3-1 MAAC).
Rider broke the stalemate in the second half when
Lindsey Maslow (Hanover, MA/Hanover) passed to
Hannah Freeman (Lowville, NY, Lowville) who snuck the ball in off the left post to secure her second goal of the season in the 53
rd minute. Marist would strike back quickly, Chance Hendricks setting up Victoria Colatosti's equalizer just over a minute later. The Red Foxes and the Broncs would remain tied through the end of regulation and the first overtime.
In double overtime, lightning would strike for a second time. Fisher dribbled around defenders before sending a left-footed strike inside the right post for her second golden goal in a row in the 103
rd minute to seal the Broncs' victory over the Red Foxes, 2-1.
