Women's Basketball Leads Wire-to-Wire in Win at Monmouth

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Rider University women's basketball team lead wire-to-wire to score a 45-31 over hOURglass rival Monmouth on Sunday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action.
 
The Broncs (5-14, 4-10 MAAC) opened the game on a 9-0 run and never looked back en route to the regular-season series sweep of the Hawks (0-8, 0-4 MAAC).
 
Rider held Monmouth to under seven points in each of the first two quarters to take a 24-10 into halftime. The Broncs held the Hawks to just 16 percent shooting (4-of-25) in the first half as Monmouth missed its first eight shots from the field.
 
The Bronc lead would remain in double figures for the remainder of the contest.
 
Senior Daija Moses (Toronto, Ontario/Henry Street) was the lone player in the game in double figures with 14 points.
 
QUOTES & NOTES

- Rider has now won six straight against Monmouth and nine of the last 10 meetings.
- The Broncs had 13 assists and 10 turnovers. It was their second consecutive game with more assists than turnovers.
- Rider had eight blocks. It was the sixth straight game in which the Broncs had five or more blocked shots.
- The 31 points were the fewest allowed for the Broncs since February of last season when Rider held Monmouth to 25 points in Lawrenceville.  
 
BRONCS BY THE NUMBERS
- Daija Moses had 14 points and six rebounds. She knocked down 6-of-10 shots from the field.
- Amanda Mobley had nine points, seven assists and four rebounds. It was her sixth game this season with five or more dimes.
- Victoria Toomey had six points, nine rebounds and four blocks. It was her third game this year with four or more blocked shots.
- Makayla Firebaugh had six points, five rebounds and two steals.
