CLARION, PA – The Rider University wrestling team won 8-of-10 matches Saturday to dominate Mid-American Conference (MAC) foe Clarion, 30-9, Saturday afternoon at Tippin Gym. With the win, the Broncs even their record at 1-1 (1-0 MAC), while the Golden Eagles are now 0-2 (0-1 MAC).

The Broncs jumped out to a 7-0 lead with a major decision from freshman Tyler Klinsky (Middletown, NJ/Middletown North) in his dual debut at 125 and a decision from Richie Koehler (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) at 133. The Golden Eagles got three points back at 141, before the Broncs rattled off five-straight victories to establish a 26-3 cushion. Jesse Dellavecchia (Great River, NY/East Islip [Binghamton]) won by fall at 157, Wyatt McCarthy (Newton, NJ/Newton) took a major decision at 149 and Jake Silverstein (Hauppauge, NY/Smithtown), Angel Garcia (Philadelphia, PA/Mariana Bracetti Academy) and George Walton each earned decisions at 165, 174 and 184, respectively.

After Clarion's nationally-ranked No. 7 Greg Bulsak won by fall at 197, Ethan Laird (Waterford, PA/General McLane) closed out the win with a major decision at 285.

- A year after posting a 30-2 record with just one win by fall, Dellavecchia now has a pair of falls in his first two matches of the year.
- Dellavecchia, Garcia and Laird each moved to 2-0 on the season with their wins.
- Klinsky and Bryan Miraglia (Delran, NJ/Delran) wrestled in a dual for the Broncs for the first time.
- The Broncs lead the all-time series with Clarion, 17-4, including wins in each of the last three. The home team had won each of the last six duals in the series, prior to Rider's road victory today.
- The Broncs return to action next Sunday, when they play host to MAC foe George Mason at noon.
