WASHINGTON, DC –
Grace Stansfield (Philadelphia, PA/William Penn Charter) and
Rachael Zeides (Woodbine, NJ/Ocean City) each had a hit, but the Rider University softball team was defeated by hOURglass Rival Monmouth, 8-0, in a non-conference game Friday morning at the Buff & Blue Challenge. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 0-10, while the Hawks are now 10-6.
Monmouth struck for a four-run first, three more in the third and another in the fourth. Rider got leadoff singles from Zeides and Stansfield in the third and fifth innings, but could not score, ending the game after five innings.

Jackie Cal (Castle Rock, CO/Regis Jesuit) started the game and took the loss. She was charged with four runs, three earned on four hits in a third of an inning.

Brooklyn Trujillo-Quintana (Henderson, CO/Prairie View) also pitched in relief.
