LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Seniors
Stella Johnson (Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic) and
Amari Johnson (Red Lion, PA/Dallastown) both recorded double-doubles to lead the Rider University women's basketball team past hOURglass rival Saint Peter's, 72-52, on Senior Night in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Thursday evening inside Alumni Gymnasium. Â

The Broncs (24-4, 17-2 MAAC) won their seventh game in a row, while the Peacocks (8-20, 5-14 MAAC) suffered their fourth straight setback.

Playing in their final home game, Stella and Amari energized the hosts. Rider used a 12-2 run in the third quarter to break open a one-possession game. During the spurt, the pair accounted for eight of the Bronc points.

In the final frame, Rider shot 50 percent (7-of-14) and outscored the Peacocks, 16-7, to earn the conference win.

Stella paced all scorers in the game with 31 points to go along with 10 rebounds, while Amari added 22 points and pulled down 16 boards. Senior
Lea Favre (Vevey, Switzerland/Lycee Jeanne D'Arc) was the other Bronc in double figures with 12 points on 5-of-11-shooting.

- Rider ends the regular season with a 12-1 record at home. It is the best record at home for the team in program history.

Stella Johnson recorded her eighth double-double of the season. All eight have come in conference play. She also had six steals and five assists. It was her sixth game this season with 30 or more points. It was also Stella's fifth game with five or more steals this winter.

Amari Johnson registered her MAAC-leading 16th double-double of the season. She scored 22 points on 8-of-19 shooting. She also added two blocks and one steal. It was Amari's sixth game this year with 15 or more boards.
- Lea has now scored in double figures in 21 of her last 23 games.

Lexi Stover scored two points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out four assists.

Rider closes out the 2019-20 regular season on Saturday, March 7, with a road conference battle against hOURglass rival Monmouth. The Broncs are looking for the regular-season sweep of the Hawks after topping MU earlier this winter inside Alumni Gym.
