NASHVILLE, TN –
Brooklyn Trujillo-Quintana (Henderson, CO/Prairie View) struck out a career-high 10 batters and scored the Rider University softball team's lone run, but the Broncs fell to Central Connecticut State University, 4-1, in the season opener Friday at the Tennessee State Tiger Classic. The game was the season opener for both teams.
The Blue Devils scored four runs in the top of the second on a pair of walks, followed by three-straight run-scoring base hits. The support was all CCSU starting pitcher Kari Marks would need, as she limited the Broncs to one run on six hits and three walks, striking out eight.
The Broncs got their lone run in the bottom of the third. Trujillo-Quintana walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on
Kelsey Marigliano's (Seaford, NY/Plainledge) single to left center.
