Women's Basketball Races Past Siena on the Road on Thursday

Four Broncs scored in double figures in the win

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Four players scored in double figures as the Rider University women's basketball team raced past host Siena, 69-38, on Thursday evening in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action at the Alumni Recreation Center.

The Broncs (18-4, 11-2 MAAC) stopped a two-game skid with the win, while the Saints (8-14, 6-7 MAAC) saw their five-game winning streak come to an end.

Rider never trailed in the contest as the guests opened on a 6-0 run. Defensively, the Broncs forced 16 first-half Siena turnovers to build a double-digit lead they would not surrender.

The Bronc lead would swell to as many as 33 midway through the fourth quarter.

Stella Johnson (Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic) paced the Rider attack with a game-high 22 points to go along with six steals and five assists, while Amari Johnson (Red Lion, PA/Dallastown) registered her MAAC-leading 14th double-double of the season thanks to a 14-point, 12-rebound performance. Lea Favre (Vevey, Switzerland/Lycee Jeanne D'Arc) and Amanda Mobley (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) were the other Broncs in double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

NOTES & QUOTES

I was really happy with the way we came out today particularly on the defensive end. We're built on our defense.
